August Theme: Getting Comfy
Prompt 1.2: August 20, 2018
- Talk about your favorite book, sell it. What about it makes you love it? Do that meme thing where you use pictures to spoil the books but without any context.
My book club friends are gonna roll their eyes because they have to hear this all the time. Ice Massacre/Crypt/Kingdom by Tiana Warner is one of my top favorite series. Native warrior women, mermaids, gaaaay girls! I mean, what’s not to love? Tiana is one of the sweetest humans on the planet and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
Another favorite series is The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray, A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing (or Sweet Farting, as Lauren and I lovingly refer to it). An all-girls prep school in England in 1890. Magic, witches, coming of age, death, it’s all so lovely and raw and I love it. I read it when it first came out back in 2003 (which is CRAZY might I add!) and I still love it.
My favorite horror novel, recently, is A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. It’s about a girl with schizophrenia who’s father thinks she’s possessed. A TV network films the exorcism process. It’s told from the POV of her younger sister, but about 15 years later. It’s so unsettling and creepy and I love it a lot.
This was created by my friend Melanie / The Library of Mars. We would do this on Tumblr, back when that was my only reviewing platform. I’ve been wanting to do something more on my blog because my reviews are as unpredictable as my reading habits. I thought this would be a fun way to promote something that you love.
I’ll be posting my Micro Reviews on the first and third Mondays of the month.
